I’m walking the Pink Runway because I’m too sassy and beautiful for cancer – it doesn’t stand a chance!
I’m walking the Pink Runway to show other survivors like me that it takes strides to flourish and progress. Nothing starts without the first step.
I’m walking the Pink Runway to the words of the new Beyonce song: ‘Cancer, you can’t break my soul!
I’m walking the Pink Runway because I’m beyond grateful to Doctors Borgen, Gayle and Gallant for their amazing care.”
I’m walking the Pink Runway because you don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
I’m walking the Pink Runway because I’m a survivor – strong before, stronger now.
I’m walking the Pink Runway because I’m blessed to have people in my life who made this journey optimistic, most importantly the prayers I received from my partner, mother, sister, cousin and friends.
I’m walking the Pink Runway because, ‘Dearly Beloved, we’re gathered here today to get through this thing called Life!’(Prince).
I’m walking the Pink Runway because breast cancer is just a bump in the road. You can and will get through it.
I’m walking the Pink Runway to say, don’t curse the darkness because you have breast cancer. Celebrate the light because you found it, and have it on the run.
I’m walking the Pink Runway to say thank you to Dr. Feinberg, Sophia, Dr. Cohen and Launda – I am so immensely grateful for their care.
With a population of 2.6 million people, more than half of whom female, the borough of Brooklyn is America’s fourth largest city. Yet until Maimonides opened the Breast Center, women in Brooklyn coping with a breast cancer diagnosis were obliged to travel from provider to provider, with many leaving the borough for treatment. We created Brooklyn’s first fully accredited, full-service Breast Center in a beautiful free-standing location just a short distance from our main campus. Led by our Chief of Surgery, Dr. Patrick Borgen, and a team of exceptionally skilled and dedicated physicians and staff, our Breast Center and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence make breast cancer screenings, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and a full array of support services available all under one roof.
The Breast Center sees about 23,000 patient visits and treats approximately 600 women per year for breast cancer, largely through satisfied patient referrals.
Maimonides partners with the NYS Cancer Services Program to provide free mammograms and other breast screenings to uninsured and under-insured women. These screenings cover women age 40 and older, as well as women under 40 who have a high risk of breast cancer.
THE MAIMONIDES BREAST CENTER SAVES LIVES EVERY DAY WITH A LEVEL OF CARE AND SENSITIVITY THAT HAS BECOME LEGENDARY. OUR NUMEROUS PATIENTS ATTEST TO THIS WITH REMARKABLE ELOQUENCE AND EVERY ONE OF THEM IS AN INSPIRATIONAL ROLE MODEL. IT IS THEIR COURAGE AND RESILIENCE THAT WE HONOR AT PINK RUNWAY – THE FASHION SHOW WHERE BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS TRIUMPH!
Don’t let fear of COVID-19 keep you from getting yours. Our facilities are clean and safe for patients and staff alike. To schedule a screening or evaluation with a Maimonides Breast Specialist, call (718) 765-2550 or click the button below.
