A journey of Strength & Hope TO BENEFIT MAIMONIDES BREAST CANCER CENTER

The Maimonides Breast Cancer Center, the first freestanding, fully accredited program to offer comprehensive breast cancer care under one roof in Brooklyn, is proud to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Pink Runway.

In 2025, all net proceeds were dedicated to increase the Center’s breast imaging capacity by 20%.

The Pink Runway is a vibrant celebration of life, where breast cancer survivors walk the runway to honor their journeys and embrace second chances, raising awareness and promoting the importance of early detection.

Walking the Pink Runway means stepping into visibility with courage, pride, and purpose. It represents strength, hope, and resilience. The Runway shows what I went through, but I've overcome it. I'm still standing, and I'm willing to be seen.

Walking the Pink Runway is a confirmation of countless small victories in my 35+ year battle with breast cancer. I know I have always tried to meet every new challenge as best I can. I believe I am still here because of it.

Walking the Pink Runway means celebrating the combination of science and humanity that supports cancer patients in reclaiming themselves. I am reminded of the special staff at Maimonides who administered treatment, care, and a home space for those of us in their care.

It means a celebration of life. Paying it forward as an example of survivorship — spreading hope and compassion, inspiring other women and their families to never give up!

About the Breast Center

At the Maimonides Breast Center, everything we do focuses on you. From your first appointment, diagnosis and treatment, to superior outcomes and post-care. Our renowned team of specialists offers you every significant advantage throughout your journey.

With a population of 2.6 million people, more than half of whom are female, the borough of Brooklyn is America’s fourth largest city. Yet until Maimonides opened the Breast Center, women in Brooklyn coping with a breast cancer diagnosis were obliged to travel from provider to provider, with many leaving the borough for treatment. We created Brooklyn’s first fully accredited, full-service Breast Center in a beautiful free-standing location just a short distance from our main campus. Led by our Chief of Surgery, Dr. Patrick Borgen, and a team of exceptionally skilled and dedicated physicians and staff, our Breast Center and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence make breast cancer screenings, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and a full array of support services available all under one roof.

The Breast Center sees about 23,000 patient visits and treats approximately 600 women per year for breast cancer, largely through satisfied patient referrals.

Maimonides partners with the NYS Cancer Services Program to provide free mammograms and other breast screenings to uninsured and under-insured women. These screenings cover women age 40 and older, as well as women under 40 who have a high risk of breast cancer.

THE MAIMONIDES BREAST CENTER SAVES LIVES EVERY DAY WITH A LEVEL OF CARE AND SENSITIVITY THAT HAS BECOME LEGENDARY. OUR NUMEROUS PATIENTS ATTEST TO THIS WITH REMARKABLE ELOQUENCE AND EVERY ONE OF THEM IS AN INSPIRATIONAL ROLE MODEL. IT IS THEIR COURAGE AND RESILIENCE THAT WE HONOR AT PINK RUNWAY – THE FASHION SHOW WHERE BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS TRIUMPH!
